Martin Parr (born in 1952) is one of the most renowned documentary photographers of his generation. A key figure in the art world, both for his photographic work and his curatorial contributions, he opened the Martin Parr Foundation in Bristol in 2017, dedicated to promoting British documentary photography. A member of Magnum Photos since 1994, and its president from 2013 to 2017, he has published over one hundred books. His work is held in numerous major museum collections and was the subject of a retrospective at the National Portrait Gallery in London in 2019.
