Description
The photographer begins this project upon returning to northern France, at a time when his father is dying, as if urged to remain active. Northscape is the photographer's pictorial pilgrimage to his native region. A keen observer of detail, Thomas Klotz sets out to capture the plasticity of the most ordinary places and objects, revealing their fantastic beauty.
A wall that bleeds, a corner of an awning that flies away or bushes marked by identical imprints are all simple elements that, through the frontality of the frame and the vividness of the colors, become unreal and phantasmagorical.
Thomas Klotz was born in 1977 in Seclin, northern France. He lives and works in Paris. He has always been fascinated by American colorists. He focuses his attention on the everyday, the trivial, which take on an intriguing and singular thickness under his gaze.
The book is prefaced by Sonia Voss.
