Through his powerful storytelling abilities, commitment to community and collaboration, and willingness to question power structures and institutions, JR has reinvented the medium of photography in the twenty-first century. 

Showcasing photographs, dioramas, films and documentation of the artist's installations, this major exhibition and borough-wide installation demonstrates how and why JR's practice has managed to both capture the imagination of audiences worldwide and expand the meaning of public art through participatory projects that give visibility and agency to a broad spectrum of people. 

JR: Chronicles also marks the debut of a new mural, The Chronicles of New York City, which features nearly 1,200 people who were photographed and interviewed in all of New York City's five boroughs during the summer of 2018, as well as a series of public murals across Brooklyn.
